October is widely known as Breast Cancer Awareness Month in the United States. The American Cancer Society started the movement in 1985 – the aim was to encourage more women to have mammograms in order to detect, diagnose, and treat breast cancer. This month, hundreds of nationally recognized brands add pink flair to apparel, advertising, communications, and more. Local radiology centers are no exception – especially if they have the diagnostic tools to properly identify breast cancer tissue.
Hunterdon Radiological Associates asked O2 Advertising to create a campaign that encourages women to come in for their annual mammogram – and remind them that early detection is their best protection.
The headline, simply states: Make the time – and suggests that getting your mammogram out of the way will help you sleep better at night. If the results are positive you’ll be able to set your mind at ease. And, if the mammogram uncovers a problem then you can start treatment faster which will deliver the most effective treatment plan and course of action.
Women in the United States have a 1 in 8 lifetime risk of being diagnosed with breast cancer, making it the most common cancer among women. Research, education and direct help to breast cancer patients have greatly contributed to the 40 percent decline in breast cancer deaths in the U.S. between 1989 and 2016.
We’re always proud of the creative work we do and the positive results that we offer clients and their brands. Sometimes the work we create sells more products, or changes perceptions. And every once in a while we get the opportunity to create something that sheds light on an important issue and saves lives.
